140 years of Faller Packaging

In the first decades of our company's history, our printing jobs were very diverse: from lemonade labels of the "Mineralwasserfabrik Ferdinand Altendorf in Emden" to folding cartons for pharmaceutical products of "Carl Bühler, Pharmazeutische Präparate, Konstanz" to packaging for black tea, bed linen and toothpaste.

For more than 30 years, we have concentrated exclusively on packaging for the pharmaceutical industry. 

A proper journal from the Freiburger Geschäftsbücher-Fabrik HCH. Wurmann, pen, ink and a lot of accuracy: these were the tools of the trade for any serious businessman in the 1920s.

Today, we can hardly imagine organising a company without a laptop, cloud and SAP.

In 1959, we were hit by a great misfortune: a major fire severely damaged our production buildings in Waldkirch. 

Thanks to the incredible support of companies in the region and our brave employees, our company was able to get through this crisis as well: For example, we were allowed to use the machines of surrounding printing plants during the night - at that time, the night shift had not yet become established everywhere - to be able to deliver our customer orders on time in any case. 

Even today, the good relationships with our business partners carry us through the current challenges of the markets.

A close look, colour sense and care are the ingredients for excellent product development and print preparation, then as now.

Precision, sure instinct, care and speed: these qualities have been in demand in our production for all generations.

Then as now, a forklift driver's intuition is crucial when unloading, reloading and storing goods.

For 140 years now, the company August Faller GmbH & Co. KG has always been owned by the founding family, and for more than 100 years, it has always been managed by a managing director of the family and an external managing director.

"This long company history testifies across all generations to great will, the right attitude, many good decisions and strong resilience in existential crises," explains Dr Michael Faller (Managing Partner).

In 2022, the Faller Packaging management team is multi-faceted and almost 30 % female.

Despite automation and digitalisation, precision, efficiency and work safety will remain the most important premises for our production in the future.
