The label can have an extra-strong adhesive so that it cannot be removed without leaving traces. Void labels, which are intentionally designed to leave a pattern when removed, are another means of giving visible proof of tampering.
 

The environmentally friendly semi-clear Faller paper tamper evident label with tamper evident closure offers a first-opening guarantee for folding cartons in accordance with European Directive 2011/62/EU.

This can be used on all standard folding cartons with tuck-in flaps.

In this design the dust flap is scored and perforated in such a way that it tears at a certain place when opened. If a package has been opened, this is easy to see.
 

Here the lid flap is inserted and an additional flap is glued over it.

A perforation allows the carton to be opened at the top. If the perforation has been destroyed, it is obvious that the package was opened.
 

This is ideal for special designs like easy-to-open folding cartons.

Here the lid flap is glued to the outside of the carton. When the flap is opened, the adhesive dots become visible and can no longer be concealed.
 

To ensure the integrity of pharmaceutical products such as medicines, many countries are implementing strict serialisation regulations. Since 2019, EU Delegated Regulation 2016/161 has stipulated that pharmaceutical manufacturers must equip their products with security features that make each pack uniquely identifiable and verifiable.

In Europe, the serialisation of pharmaceutical products involves the use of a 2D data matrix code on the packaging, which carries important information:

• the product code to identify the medication
• the serial number
• the national reimbursement number or another national identification number
• the batch number
• the expiry date

International markets such as China with the 128C bar code ("China code"), Russia with crypto codes and the USA with the Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA) have similar regulations, whereby the required codes often contain more extensive data than European 2D data matrix codes and therefore require more complex printing processes.
