As part of International Women's Day, we regularly profile notable women from Faller Packaging.
Dunja Gehring, Head Regional Business Team,
tells us what always fascinates her about her job and which tips really help women on their way to senior management.
Why did you decide on your profession?
In my profession I can combine the two most important aspects for me: I like the way I deal with the customer, as well as the technical elements that are necessary to be able to advise them.
For me, it has always been exciting to see how products are manufactured, and that is more than you would think, even with a folding box, adhesive label or package insert.
What is your professional career?
I started my professional life as a civil servant in a simple service.
However, I could not imagine doing this for a lifetime. This was followed by an apprenticeship as a paralegal, which was quite interesting. However, I wanted to be able to make my own decisions and take responsibility. Therefore I attached another training as an industrial clerk.
That was precisely the right decision.
What motivates you in your everyday work?
I like the personal contact with customers, but also with the entire internal departments at all our locations. This makes daily work very varied and exciting.
Besides, it is always a great feeling when you win projects or tenders on which you have sometimes worked for many months.
Such moments of success are incredibly motivating.
Also, at Faller Packaging, we all have the opportunity to contribute new ideas and work on them. This is not a matter of course in all companies. Last but not least, we are a great team, so I enjoy coming to the office every day.
Why did you choose Faller as your employer?
In my case, this was not a conscious decision. I did my training at St. Göppert KG - today Faller's Plant 2.
When Göppert took over through Faller 1999, I had the opportunity to stay and continue working in sales.
I realised relatively quickly that Faller is a company with a future and wanted to be a part of it - which I have been for 26 years now.
