Sustainable labels

When it comes to sustainable labels, their functionality always comes first and must be given for the respective purpose. Following this approach, Faller Packaging uses only what is necessary to reduce the number of materials used in the manufacture of its products. With reduced material use of face and carrier materials, less material is produced for disposal and raw materials can be saved. This also allows transport and storage capacities to be used optimally.

A label consists not only of the part that adheres to the product - when it is dispensed onto the packaging material, the backing material remains behind. Instead of disposing of it conventionally, customers can have it collected by an adhesive material supplier. The supplier then returns it to the recyclable material cycle. Transport and recycling in compliance with EU standards saves CO2 emissions, conserves resources and costs no more than "normal" disposal. For control purposes, the customer receives regularly updated analysis data and certificates.

In addition, Faller Packaging recycles all the waste produced in its own label production, such as grids, trimmings and waste paper - a unique selling point, as this is not the norm in the industry.

In terms of sustainability, it is essential to pay attention to a recyclable material combination of label, adhesive and container. As a general rule, the label should be made of the same type of material as the packaging material, because the purer the material, the less effort is required for separation and reuse. If this is not the case, the label adhesives used must be designed in such a way that they can be separated in the specific recycling process.

Recyclates play an important role in the circular economy. The higher their proportion, the less virgin material is needed. Faller Packaging promotes their use and currently offers label solutions made from recycled material. Whether and which recycled material users can use instead of material-identical virgin material must be carefully examined in each application. Among other things, the suitability for different printing techniques must be taken into account. The materials are suitable for all purposes, but some of them have different properties compared to their conventional counterparts, which can influence the printing result. Substitution of the conventional material is therefore possible, but must be tested individually in each case and the end result must be closely coordinated with the customer.
